Child in Need

There is a boy at the market,
Asking for food.
A little girl on a porch swing
In a somber mood.

In desperate need of kindness
They yearn from their hearts.
In a world of such turmoil,
Their lives have been torn apart.

Their daddy's not working
And mom's in her grave.
Their daddy can't stop drinking.
And mommy could not be saved.

Where is the compassion
God showed us that day;
The selfless loving sacrifice
His son had to pay.

A grandfather tells a story
To the woman he loves,
Rubbing her hand as gently
As two courting doves.

She's losing the battle
She once fought so strong.
Grandpa knows grandma
Has not very long.

Real soon comes the holiday
Of Christmas, my friend.
Let's give to the needy,
And this gift will transcend.

Let's help these families,
Bring hope in their lives.
Grandparents and children,
Husbands and wives.
